BRUCE HOOVER DEMONSTRATION AGENDA
Saturday, April
19th
8:30 AM to 4 PM
Useful Shop Tips and Organizers & Sanding Secrets Demo
Good useful shop tips
abound, but are often just a footnote to other topics.
Presentation includes an accumulation of worthwhile tips from my own
experiences along with some learned from others. Sub-topics
include tips for on the lathe, reverse-turning, gluing, etc. Ways
to organize your tools and supplies for better efficiency will be
included. Bruce has developed
many
innovative methods, tools, and widgets to reduce sanding effort.
Turning Palm Demo - a
wood of mystery to many woodturners
Finial Lids Demo
Sunday, April
20th
9 AM to 4 PM
Sanding Secrets
Hands-On Workshop
This workshop will
follow the general outline of the demonstration. There will be a
brief discussion of each topic and then everyone will be given the
opportunity to try the new method or tool shown before moving on to the
next topic. Being able to perform each task yourself helps it
make better sense. Six hours should allow enough time for
everyone in the workshop to “test drive” each tool using new
methods. The more lathes the better as it will increase hands on
time. Participants are asked to bring their favorite tools and
sanders, and also pieces in progress for sanding and experimenting.
Bruce has one of the
largest product booths at the Florida Symposium and there is always a
crowd gathered at his booth. He will be bringing his “mobile store”
along this weekend, so you will have an opportunity to add to your
sanding and woodworking supplies if you desire.
The demo will be held
at Sue Thomas’ shop, just north of the river in Ft. Myers.
You should bring your
own lunch or plan to run out for lunch during the lunch break.
Chairs will be
provided at the demonstration.
